Oct 27, 2020NextGen Biomass Black Pellets LLC Announces New Website Promoting Green Carbon Solutions
Site serves as online umbrella for Zilkha Biomass Fuels I and Zilkha Biomass Technology companies and the Zilkha Black® Pellet
Houston, TX — 10/28/2020 — NextGen Black Pellets LLC (NextGen) today announced the launch of its new website, www.nextgenbiomass.com, which promotes its green carbon solutions. The site serves as an online umbrella destination for NextGen Black Pellets subsidiaries, Zilkha Biomass Fuels I (ZBFI), and Zilkha Biomass Technology companies along with its Zilkha Black® Pellet products.
“The new site signifies a change in the renewable energy industry,” explained Larry Price, CEO of NextGen. “The sector has hit its stride over the last decade. While many pellet manufacturers focus on providing pellets for home heating and cooking, and others are supplying sustainable white and black pellets to power producers worldwide, we know that pellets can do more.”
As a renewable energy technology provider, NextGen enables the production of a renewable fuel and feedstock that can support utility-scale baseload power generation as well as a significant host of industrial, agricultural, and consumer uses. Price noted that “NextGen, with our Zilkha Black® Pellet, provides a second-generation pellet with water resistance, higher NCV, and higher bulk density. It can substitute for coal in power plant operations with little or no modification required to co-fire up to 50%. Just think—emissions are lowered without having to build a new operation.”
All of the company’s biomass feedstock is sustainably harvested. This results in significant carbon emissions reductions over the traditional fossil fuels that the Black pellets replace. The company’s patented technology for Zilkha Black® Pellet can also facilitate the production of metals with higher carbon content. This technology can provide low ash renewable fuel for kilns used to produce cement and filtration systems to capture hydrocarbons. It meets the European Union’s guidelines for secondary products.
NextGen Biomass, through its ZBFI subsidiary, owns and operates a 240,000-tonne Zilkha Black® wood pellet manufacturing facility in Selma, Alabama. The plant is the only large volume commercial mill producing Zilkha Black® wood pellets worldwide.
Biomass fuels differ from fossil fuels in that it is produced from organic materials like plants, vegetation, agricultural waste, or wood processing byproducts. It can be renewed within a human time scale. It renews within decades, rather than the geologic timelines of millions of years required for oil, gas, and coal.
Furthermore, unlike wind or solar power, biomass energy, which is naturally stored solar energy, can be harvested in any environment and stored for later use. Zilkha Black® Pellets build a bridge to the future of energy by providing a pure biomass product that works within the existing coal-fired infrastructure with minimal conversion costs.
The biomass fuel industry also has a positive impact on the forest industry and employment in local economies. It leads to creating sustainable jobs in a growing renewables market, revitalizing, and rebuilding communities in the process.
